ahhhh. thanks for that! :)
ReplyDeleteFABULOUS! My apple tree is about 2 weeks away from PICKING the little beauties! Those look VERY tasty though, they look like British Bramley apples, great in pies and crumbles.
ReplyDeleteWow, it will be quite a while before we see apples around here-enjoy:@)
ReplyDeleteAll my apples on my tree have little brown spots!!!
ReplyDeleteAARRGGHHHH!!!!
oh well, Enjoy! yours look delicious!

ahhhhh...there is hope on the horizon! i love the scarecrow light. it is just too cute!
ReplyDeleteOh, yummy, I really love caramel apples. I remember seeing all kinds of candied apples for sale the last time I was in SLO, at the Farmer's Market. Of course, after wandering around and stuffing myself on Korean food and corn on the cob, there wasn't room for anything else!
ReplyDeleteIt is never too hot for a caramel apple. I like those little wraps.
ReplyDeleteI bet your caramel apples will be delicious. It seems that your farm market outing was inspiring. I, too, was at the farm market this morning and came away with peaches, Santa Rosa plums, and strawberries. Yum. I sure would love to taste your caramel apples though.
ReplyDeleteI love apples every time! We had apples in the last summer and what lovely are caramel apples!! gloria
ReplyDeleteWhat a heat wave. I sound like the wicked witch from the Wizard of Oz. I'm melllll-ttting. It is so unbearably hot I could cry. I don't want to appear like a big cry baby so I just whine instead. I can't believe you guys have such beautiful apples already. Brilliant idea to make caramel apples.
ReplyDeletehahaha...you aren't fooling me with that cute little pumpkin head! :) I'm melting! ha.
ReplyDeleteI love the first crop of apples...I always call them summer apples. Let us know how the wrappers work..I've seen them but never tried them out! Sounds easier!
Hello Kary and Teddy Handsome Boy,
ReplyDeleteGreat post of summers. I love the scarecrow!!!
Happy Summertime.
xoxo
No apples here yet, but soon.
ReplyDeleteI love that I can picture the SLO farmers' market. You live in an enchanting part of the world!
Hi Kary, Teddy, Whiskey Sour, and Dandelion :)...my first time writing to you although I have been reading and enjoying your blog for some time now. Aren't the Gravenstein apples the best! My little tree in my back yard is loaded with them and tomorrow I make the first of many pies with them. I'm just north of you in the East Bay. I love SLO, you're so fortunate to live there - what a beautiful area.

I'm loving the summer fruit, but can't wait for the first apples. Hugs to you and Teddy!
ReplyDeleteour apple signs for the orchards aren't out yet....a bit later for us and i can't wait !
ReplyDeleteand i cheat sometimes too with the caramel wraps !!
Dear Kary and Sweet Teddy, I do hope the little scarecrow sends cool breezes my way, I hate to whine, but it is hot, Winslow Homer and I are not happy campers. Hope you are enjoying your summer, and the caramel apples!
ReplyDeleteCaramel apples make me think of Autumn and that makes me think of cool weather!
ReplyDeleteIt's been so hot it's awful, I can't spend more than 10 minutes in the sun without sunscreen . . . so I'm happy to imagine these delicious apples!
Mary & Dukeums!
Apples in July. It seems like a fall thing, but what can you do but enjoy them. I love anything that comes from the farmers market and especially if it is covered in caramel! Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time eating my fruit like I should-this reminded me how much I love carmel apples.
ReplyDeleteI do associate them with fall, of course. Maybe that's the whole idea-with the scarecrow and all.
If you lived where I do, you wouldn't rush it. It's just gotten nice here the last few weeks.
Have you ever eaten a carmel apple with red hots added? OMG-yummy!
how has it been this long long I've visited you? I'm sorry I've been away. Thank you for the lovely pictures that you always post...you've brought a smile to my face this eve.

Don't think I've heard of Gravenstein apples. I like to buy the Gala variety here. Hubby has come home with nectarines, pears, plums, cantaloupe and strawberries and they are all sweet and delicious now. Yum! Have a great day. Tammy
ReplyDeleteAbout two weeks ago, my mum made her first apple cake of this season with apples from my parents' garden - it was delicious! And yet, we have not had "proper" summer so far, so I really think there is still plenty of time for the walnuts and rosehips and everything else...
ReplyDeleteYay!
ReplyDeleteHi Kary and Teddy!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to be having new season apples already - and with caramel!
I hope you enjoy them!
Big hug to Teddy!
Gill xx
I love those wraps. They're so much easier than trying to clean a pot lined with melted caramel. But it's still way too early here for caramel apples and dreaming of fall; our summer hasn't even started yet. Considering the heat the rest of the country is putting up with, I guess I should be glad.
ReplyDeleteI would caramel-dip the apples and then roll them in chopped & toasted walnuts!Gravensteins make a great pie too(with a cheddar cheese crust)!I am now very hungry for Autumn!
ReplyDeletecan it be...a hint of autumn wanting to visit? such a clever girl that mother nature! love the post... and now i know about simple wraps. thanks!
ReplyDelete-xok.
Love the pumpkin scarecrow...
ReplyDeleteThose apples do look good and I am sure they will be even better with the caramel!
ReplyDeleteyummy!
ReplyDeletesending you hugs from milan,

donkey in the pines
dear kary,
ReplyDeletei'm wishing for fall too, even though we don't have the heat wave that the rest of the country is in the middle of!
yay for your finds!
You've got me in the mood to bake an apple pie!
ReplyDeleteHi Kary, so happy to be back home and reading my favorite blogs once again! Apples and farmer's markets - so wonderful! Our local farmer's market shut down for this year due to lack of interest - can you believe it? I desperately need to find another market with local, organic produce. Hope all is well, give Teddy a hug for me. Trying to keep cool in this heat wave we're having - today is very gloomy and rainy, but still 86 degrees! Ciao, bella! xxoo
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me that fall cannot be far away.....apples love them!
