she loves looking out at the little birdies in the feeder....
what's ya got here, mama? Easter decorations in the kitchen too....
look at that little face...i just LOVE Dande-Girl....
corn needs to be planted...i have planted corn every year of my life since i was 5. no matter where i have lived there is ALWAYS corn in the garden in the summer...i love to watch it grow...watch it turn golden brown in late summer...listen to it rustle in the wind ... and best of all...tie it to the lampost in the Fall....
i knew it would be hot today so i hit the Farm Supply yesterday for a flat of impatiens to plant in my window box by my kitchen window..the window Dande sits in....
these are the pots...i love that old green french wire shelf..i got it years ago in an antique shop....
my first sweet pea...i planted the whole fence..i didn't do it last year because i was in depression over losing Buddy...
my daffodils are blooming...
there he is...that's teddy on his new lawn playing with his FIREPOP...his most favorite toy...i have to tell you...this is my second attempt at this post...i was almost finished earlier this morning and BOOM. the computer just died. blank. black. i just about had a heart attack... i loaded it up and went over to Best Buy. looks like somebody chewed the power cord. what? hhmmmm....i wonder who that would be...i saw him over in the corner the other day and wondered what he was doing there. now i know.
Look at all your spring colors! I woke up to four inches of snow. By the way, I made your chocolate chip/walnut cookies yesterday. Heaven.
ReplyDeleteJohnny-jump-ups are one of my favourite flowers -- fell in love with them when I was a little girl and still love them!
ReplyDeleteOh Dande, what a face!
ReplyDeleteyour grass is fantastic, so thick!
everything is beautiful.
Especailly Teddy!
xx
donkey in the pines
Dande has the sweetest face. Teddy has grown so much, and it so pretty. I would kill for a 90 degree day or even a day with sunshine. Your flowers and plants make me happy just to see them. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful post! I love your flowers (especially the lavender!), and your sweet Teddy :)
ReplyDeleteStay cool! (Can't believe I'm saying that when it's 39 degrees in NY!) ♥
Everything around your home and garden looks so lovely. Like you, I am delighted with the warmer days and have been in a planting mood myself. I,too, came home with johnny-jump-ups that are now looking quite jolly in my window box.
ReplyDeleteOh what a face! How could you not love that!
ReplyDeleteWe had a couple of days of spring and now it's cold again.
I love old wire plant stands and have a few of my own too. I don't always use them for plants.
All you photos are so pretty. Love all the flowers.
oh, such a lovely post...Dande and Teddy...so dear. love the sweet pea growing... and can't wait to see your corn recipes when you have produce!wish i could work around in some garden dirt today...enjoy for me too! and thank you! -xok.
ReplyDeleteOn a day that is gray and gloomy here, I have loved this post and seeing what's growing in your corner of the world--I know mine will be like that soon...At least I hope!! :-)))
ReplyDeletePS: Dande is lovely too!!!!!
omg...dande looks like she is right out of "cats". what a face! and teddy took no time at all to become master of his turf!!! i love it!
ReplyDeleteTried to grow corn one year but it didn't cross pollinate well:have better luck with the nightshades.Suppose fruition with two of the Three Sisters plants(bean & squash) still merits a green thumbs up from Mother Nature!
ReplyDeleteMy cats like to sit in the window too.
ReplyDeleteI love to see photos from your garden because here in Norway we are waiting for the last snow to melt... and I always love to see Teddy of course ツ
I love the face of Dande she looks how I feel right now waiting for 12 inches of snow. Hollyhocks are my favorite flower I grow them all along the rock wall.
ReplyDeletethanks for the peek at sunshine I feel I will never see it again
Cathy
nice to see everything's blooming at your end Kary, it's a cold dismal day here. Although it was sunny yesterday.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely Spring post.... except for that 90 degrees part! Shock!
ReplyDeleteI love that you are warm. That you are planting things. That some are already coming up. Me, na da. Nothing. I'm growing moss does that count ?
ReplyDeleteIt's actually hard to believe I live in the same country that you do, Kary! lol. What fun things you have going on at the farmhouse! You and I love the same types of flowers...just lovely!
ReplyDeletexo
PS...went to make dilly bread last week and didn't have any cottage cheese! I bought some today....can't wait to bake it tomorrow! :)
ReplyDeleteDear Kary (and Teddy), I sure have missed visiting you and it feels wonderful seeing your beautiful cooking, kitchen and flowers! And seeing Teddy so happy!! And your kitty... You Meyer Lemon trees are inspiring me - I might have to plant a couple of those in pots here... Much love to you! Silke
ReplyDeleteI love that first sweet pea. I always plant them. We have a little while to go before we start planting. It was only 41 degrees here today. Too cold!
ReplyDeleteWhat a bright and happy post this one is - thanks!
ReplyDeleteSo, you're having lovely hot weather and we're still in rain and wind. Enjoy!
Wow Kary, 90 degrees. We are supposed to get around ten inches of snow tonight into tomorrow morning. Great April fool's joke. The joke is on us I guess. Love all your planters and of course the animals are too cute for words.
ReplyDeleteSusan
I'm really wishing for warm weather now! We were teased by a few days in the seventies, but it's cold again now. Johnny Jump-ups are my favorites!
ReplyDeleteWindows and doors wide open! Thank you for that--really. Your post will get me through whatever Mother Nature dumps on us for April Fool's day. I can almost smell the air at your place.....thanks for visiting me today up in the Tundra. We'll get there soon: you've reminded me.
ReplyDeleteI love the small Johnny Jumpups, as you call them; they have so many different names (didn't we talk about that last year?), my parents have these on their balcony, too.
ReplyDeleteWe're expecting around 75F tomorrow, which is quite warm for April, but not too unusual. And I shall take out my new-old bike for its first ride in 1 1/2 years!!!
While having four distinct seasons is necessary for my soul to function, breathing in your post had me wondering of I could maybe at least cut one or two short in order to have such lush and lovely gifts as these before April!!! Thank you so much for sharing; it was balm to a weary soul on a day of just-enough-snow-to-be-inconvenient-but-not-enough-to-stay-home.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this post! Your taste for designing a garden is impeccable. Love all your ideas - very warm and friendly...like you!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so pretty! I am more than anxious for the weather to warm up so I can start planting flowers.
ReplyDeleteCorn and impatiens are two things I have always had trouble with. My corn always ends up with worms or the squirrels steal it. Impatiens get leggy and droopy on me. Last year, I was able to keep some looking good for most of the summer, so I'm going to try again.
Dande is just adorable! We lost our cat, Chester, a few weeks ago (on my birthday of all days). He was 21 years old, so I knew it was coming, but it's still hard.
dande is SO cute in the window! can you believe this weather? it is too hot, but i know not fair to complain when a big part of the us is still having snow!
ReplyDeletehave fun planting kary!
Yeah for Springtime! We have warm sunshine too..just not 90! We are thankfully high 70's to 80. Finally we can dust off the outdoor furniture and tend to the pots outside. Plant! I think I will wait till Monday as we have a full weekend already.
ReplyDeleteYour yard looks lovely indeed!
We have a very hairy cat much like your, a little darker named Bonkers because he loves to run up and bonk into your leg. Sometimes he does that and then just falls over with and audible plop and purrs... can't beat it. 90 degrees!! It's snowing here today, not sicking but still... sheeesh.
ReplyDeleteDande is so cute! What a face! Teddy looks like he likes to explore the yard.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it is in the 90's there! We have had a very cold spring so far. I'm happy the snow missed us today and it just rained.
You are lucky to be able to get a start on planting. The sweet peas are so pretty!
Happy weekend Kary!
Oh, Dande is so beautiful! What a sweet face on that baby. I can't believe how hot it is there. At 90 degrees I would just melt into a puddle of sprinkles! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYour yard is gorgeous. The flowers magnificent! I'll bet Teddy loves all that new grass just for him. Your posts are always so enriching, my sweet friend. Best wishes always.
Dande looks like Garfield...a bit of mischief in that face I'd say. Sweet. Love the Johnny jump ups. One of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteThose happy little faces on the pansies - looking up from beneath the Meyers lemon tree...What a welcoming arrangement!
ReplyDeleteWondering how long it will be before we find pansies here in northern Wisconsin?
Oh how I envy all the planting!! The 90's seem a little high for this time of year, however! My daughter just went through there a week ago and it was wet and rather cold! Weather these days!! I love all the things you are planting; it will be fun to watch it all grow!!
ReplyDeleteLove the Hollyhocks sign! Teddy looks like he's having lots of fun exploring the gardens! Where was Whiskey Sour? LOL!! Dande looked very comfortable on her perch!
ReplyDeleteOur tomato plants where planted yesterday, at the expense of my CA. poppies. Sometimes my husband drives me crazy, but I love him just the same. I'm glad to see Teddy enjoy the yard so much he is a good "Farm house dog"
ReplyDeleteEverything is beautiful. I love to see things grow!! I will soon pick my first english peas! Yay!! I'm so excited. All of my other veggies are doing great.
ReplyDeleteHave a great spring even though it feels like summer! We will soon have those temps here too!
such beautiful shots!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful pictures. Thanks for bringing spring here. We're not quite in full spring yet. I can just about smell the lavender.
ReplyDeleteNice to see the sun and flowers in your garden Kary - Teddy too of course - there are plenty of flowers here too, but the weather has turned chilly again and it's raining at the moment....
ReplyDeleteoh your killing me......WHY does there have to be a whole country between us? I want to come over and smell your sweet peas, help dead head your johnny jump ups and laugh as Cheddar and Teddy roll around in the fresh grass...someday my friend... enjoy your day and don't forget your sunscreen!
ReplyDeleteYour cat is ADORABLE. :) And I love the photo in your banner. Just so serene and lovely.
ReplyDeletemy my love that cat's puss...her and I would get along just fine
ReplyDeleteTeddy is beautiful and all grown up
love those johnny jump ups..love finding them everywhere..wild like me
and of course hollyhocks...alley roses we called them growing up in Chicago
reminds me of grandpa's
i love what you have done with all your plants...just beautiful
stay happy and always grab joy
I'm ready to rumble; nay, plant. But, we're still getting freezing nights.
ReplyDeletewhat a happy blog!
ReplyDeleteWOW! That's some kinda hot, even for this time of year, isn't it? It did get up to the 70's here today but it's coolish tonight; great sleeping weather. I spent the day cleaning up the yarn, putting new soil in porch planters...getting ready for warmer weather and gardening.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all that planting. I'm doing some seed-starting this weekend, I'll be thinking of you!
ReplyDeletewow what a great time to be in spring has sprung and everything is looking fresh and lovely, I want to plant corn too just got a new vegie patch up and running finally and have just planted beetroot, tomatoes several types and red salad onions. we are in the middle of autumn so the choice of planting is a little limited.
ReplyDeleteYour cat is so adorable! I love those cute pictures of him.I am envious of your Myer Lemon tree!! I so love Meyer Lemons and when we lived in California it was so nice because they are so abundant there.Johnny jump ups are just the sweetest things!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable face!! Cute kitty!! Your flowers are all so pretty... can't believe how many you already have!
ReplyDeleteWhat is up with the hot weather?! We are unseasonably hot here is south Florida too!
ReplyDeleteI am going to re-up My Farmhouse Kitchen on my Google Reader, you are not showing up!
Great post, spring, flowers, planting and the fur persons! Love it!
sending love and ((a hug)), magnolia
Oh Kari, how wonderful to receive your sweet visit on Sunday! It is always a pleasure to have the company of you, Teddy and the kitty family! Have a wonderful week, my sweet friend!
ReplyDeletethey can be such scamps!!! i so want some lavender
ReplyDeleteEverything is so beautiful in SLO. I wish Jeremy would go back there for his Masters but I don't think it will happen. He just moved out last month into his swanky ( $3300/month ) apartment in downtown San Francisco within walking distance of Giants stadium. Thankfully, his roommate works for the company that rents the Edgewater so they get $1000 break on the rent.
ReplyDeleteTeddy and Dande look so content at the Farmhouse. No wonder. I get the feeling they are rather pampered.
Hi Kary, I have been having computer problems as well. Just wanted to stop by and wish you and your husband (can't forget him) and dear Teddy and the kitties a very Happy Easter. My new computer is fabulous. Don't have to share with The Herbal Husband any more! Yippee! xxoo Nancy
ReplyDeleteHey Kary, you okay? Long time no post?? Hope everything is well with you.
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone is having a good time.
ReplyDeleteWe are a little behind in planting due to the wet weather and cool temps we have had.
We'll get going soon though.
Hope to see you soon.
Melinda

ReplyDeleteI haven't heard from ya in awhile, hope you and dear teddy are fabulous! Xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteLovely images. Teddy and I like the same things -- the smell of fresh green grass and lavendar -- I don't chew cords though. :) It's a good thing he didn't harm himself in the process. Thanks for sharing the beauty that surrounds you. Blessings, Tammy
