Knitting In The Kitchen

i have been knitting dish rags in the kitchen on these rainy days...but i have to do it standing up...cause somebody ( Teddy ) loves to grab the ball of yarn and run....
i am using that old fashion yarn called SUGAR AND CREAM...it is all cotton and has been around FOREVER...i used to knit these in high school... i went on YOU TUBE to learn it all over again...

i love stacking them in my kitchen on the drainboard...they look so HOMEY and COZY and SPRING-LIKE....

i have chili in the Crockpot...and cornbread must be made...so off i go.

  12. I'm so jealous! I tried to knit a dishcloth from instructions in a book, and it turned out looking like something that you would NOT leave out on your drainboard. (It was fine in the dishwater though because you couldn't see it!)

  13. hi kary!
how cute (and useful!) are your dishtowels. they are the absolute best, i've been making them for years too.
i have to laugh at the picture of teddy taking off with your yarn. i couldn't take that though, owen could get into most anything (and does) except my knitting!

I hope you've been enjoying these early days of spring!

  14. I regret not learning to knit when my Gran wanted to teach me, years ago.I do make a good chili casserole though:it's baked with a cornbread topping(sort of like a Mexican Shepard's pie).

  17. I bought a few knitted dish cloths last year. They aren't nearly as nice as yours, but when I see them they make me feel like I should slow down a bit and wash a few things by hand.

I am sugar-free at the moment so seeing jam jars on your counter pleases me; I want to know that someone is eating jam even if it's not me.

  18. Kari, you are too much! Thank you - I never did learn how to knit - although my Irish grandmother really tried to teach me. Ciao, bella!

  21. I knit dish cloths with that kind of yarn too. :-)
I buy the yarn on cones which are for knitting machines. The yarn is much cheaper and you can buy them at WalMart.

  23. You've gotten me in the mood to return to knitting dish rags. It has been several years since I made one. I love how sturday they are. My daughter still uses one that I knitted for her way back when. Just throw them in the washing maching, and they are as good as new.

    Yum. Chili and cornbread.

  51. I have an aunt that knits dishclothes. I use them all the time. Love them. Just found your blog through Mennonite Girls Can Cook.
Just an fyi. The yellow letters are pretty but I found them kind of difficult to read/see. I will be exploring your blog more.

  52. Kari--thanks for stopping by my blog today and saying such nice things. I, too, have made washcloths from Sugar and Cream yarn, several for each of my grandbabies. I love their colors, they are so soft, and they are quite durable. And Jiffy corn muffin mix--what can I say--the easiest and tastiest cornbread in the whole wide world! I use buttermilk instead of milk in mine--buttermilk lasts forever in the fridge, and I like to have it on hand for my cornbread. I'll be back!! ;o)
