There are a lot of goodies there. Makes me wish we had an autumn for more than two days a year.
ReplyDeleteWe had to call our camping trip short-too much wind!!!! No baking scones in the little oven but I'll make them here it is cool and windy here also a great way to say good bye to summer.
ReplyDeleteThat Halloween cupcake candle is VERY cute!
ReplyDeleteEeek, I love everything you posted!; the magazines, the maple syrup, the decor... :)
ReplyDeleteI just came back from Barnes & Noble and purchased the Better Homes & Gardens Halloween magazine, and Gooseberry Patch's Halloween edition too! Can't wait to cozy up tonight and read 'em! ♥
I have those magizines too. INfact.. I just pulled out my recent stash that I bought. I can't wait to have this house cleaned so I can sit and read them over and over. I am looking forward to Phylis Hoffman's Celebrate Halloween issue also, it's was good last year.
ReplyDeleteHappy last day of summer.
oooooooooohhhhhhhhhh
ReplyDeletewind in the pines up here, and the bats are suddenly back. summer is packing his bags.
you might see him tiptoeing off
on one of your midnight gingersnap raids

I guess I am starting to get in the fall mood too. Just made and ate homemade chicken pot pie and in the next day or two I will be eating acorn squash. Great Post!
ReplyDeletewow Kary, you just got me really into the mood for fall and Halloween! Is that this year's Halloween issue of Martha? We are so behind up North of all the magazines...they come out very late.
ReplyDeleteAll those delights look very yummy! Thank you for sharing your finds with us....
xoxox happy Autumn!
It was a fleeting summer this year since it was cool for so long. I keep thinking of Fall with the dry leaves falling, rolling across the streets, swirling. I also want to go to Apple Hill near Placerville for Apple Donuts fresh made, warm with the dusting of Cinnamon sugar on them and of course fresh pressed apple cider. Your photos made me dream...oh I love Pumpkin scented candles!
ReplyDeleteYum! I love comfort food! I was just thinking that I can't wait for it to get cold enough for soup. Pumpkin bread sounds yummy, too! Mmmm!
ReplyDeleteI love Halloween and I have no idea why! I always enjoy the Martha Stewart Halloween edition. She always has cute ideas.
ReplyDeleteGosh Kary, I must admit I'm not yet ready for fall, just squeezing the most out of summer still.
ReplyDeleteThat big tin of cookies is simply then your chance to host a few friends over, eh? Cute tin too.
ReplyDeleteOh yea! Fall, Fall, Fall. Can't wait for it.
ReplyDeleteHave a super Sunday.
Melinda
I am still in the summer mode - not quite ready to give it up. However, when I am ready to say goodbye to outdoor swimming and my garden, I open my arms to Autumn. It's one of my favorite seasons. And especially Halloween-love how much fun it is!
ReplyDeleteKary, can you believe it's here so soon? Definitely the same here too..lovely sun yesterday but so cold at night now & the garden overblown & fading...I must admit I find it exciting, that back to school feeling, a new start! Alice likes cool better too. Teddy's first Fall...can just see him chasing those leaves as they drop, bless his little heart! LOVE & hugs from Alice & Me xox
ReplyDeleteStuck in endless steambath summer here. We have been glad for a few days under 90 degrees. I know we won't get any cool days until October. I long for cooler climes but all my peeps are in Florida. Now we're raising another generation of Florida kids who think this weather is normal. Loved your post.
ReplyDeletewe are still having beach days here on the east coast....I love seeing all of this fall fun! Have fun tailgating!
ReplyDeletexo
Hold on a minute Ms. Zippy. I haven't even gotten to bake the oatmeal raisin cookies in your last post yet and you've got us at Halloween.
ReplyDeleteFirst my birthday in September, then the beautiful leaves of October and then Halloween. Ok?
xo Jane
Yes , Summer has vanished here too .
ReplyDeleteStill , at least it's soup weather again. Today it was big bowls of Roast Carrot and Sweet Potato . The colour was perfect and now I'm warm right through !
I found your blog just in time for fall! What better way to usher in chilly mornings than reading a blog about a cozy farmhouse? I wish I had my own farmhouse, so I'll have to live vicariously through your blog. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou are too cute! I think you are all ready for fall and Halloween! I'm not quite there yet, because I know if fall comes, winter is not far behind!

Claudia
What a great post for fall! The magazines, syrup, tin and your decorations, wonderful! It's 90 degrees here today but this definitely puts me in the mood for fall! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteYou're getting me thinking of fall, pumpkins and witches, always a fun time of year.
ReplyDeleteWe had beautiful fall like weather last week but today it's 90 again here in Kentucky. Loved all the pictures. It's almost sad that summer is almost over. But I am ready for fall foods, soups and stews. All the fall festivals will be starting soon. I wish I had a tin of those cookies!
ReplyDeleteOK---I'll admit it....I'm JEALOUS.
ReplyDeleteCandy corn...Martha....tins of gingersnaps...All those things I love that I can't find here!!!
We don't mind saying 'farewell' to Summer, do we, Kary?
I am so ready for Fall. It's raining today, and chilly. And I am LOVING it.
I think it's high time I made an apple pie.
xoxo Dawn
my daughter and i were standing in the kitchen when she stopped by for breakfast and we ohhed and ahhed over all your finds. so much so that i am heading out of here shortly to be the first one at michael's when it opens. they better have the martha magazine or i will start a fall riot!!! then i am heading to tj maxx and marshalls because my sister told me they have really good halloween stuff. you know what my post will be tomorrow!!! all of my new stash!
ReplyDeleteWow Kary, you are ready for Autumn!!! Your deco's are beautiful and love your photos! I love summer and I'm holding on until the last minute! LOL!!! While I love Autumn, I do not like what follows it - cold & snow! I also love maple syrup, I "re-converted" about 12 years ago after going to a friends wedding in Stow, Vermont, haven't looked back since! I even have a small bottle that I bring to restaurants when we go out to breakfast - in case they don't have real syrup! I enjoyed my visit today!
ReplyDeleteOh how is summer over already?!! I was miserable with the heat but now that it's waning I'm getting nostalgic. All of that fall stuff looks fabulous, I'm especially weak when it comes to candy corns, as disgustingly (delicious) as they are.
ReplyDeleteMy Dear Friend, I have the perfect website for you grandinroad.com. I got a catalog in the mail the other day and after seeing your post, I knew I had to let you know. Maybe you know already. They have Martha Stewart haunt couture! It's a combination of small size furniture and Halloween items! The only thing missing is costumes for Teddy! How could they forget the furry friends? Hope you have fun! xxoo to you and Teddy! Nancy
ReplyDeletethis post makes me incredibly happy!! i cannot wait for fall to get here, i can smell the pumpkin spice cupcakes already!
ReplyDeleteYou really found some great fall finds.Fall is my favorite season and I'm always on the lookout for something to perk up my home.We have a store called The Christmas Tree Shop up here in New England and they have the best decorations for all four seasons. Maybe I'll take a ride and see what they are selling for fall this year.
ReplyDeleteI am SO ready for Autumn - the colors, the sights, the smells - love it all! I'm making bread tomorrow, first yeast bread in a long while.
ReplyDeleteLooks you are totally ready for Halloween already! I love Halloween! Maybe We will put our new baby in a pumpkin this year!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'm
ReplyDeletegoing to have ANY
problem finding fall,
here in Minnesota ~
she's come a calling
in the darker mornings
and the goslings who
are all grown up around
our lakes. FUN post!

Hi Kary!
ReplyDeleteWhen we were recently in delightfully chilly San Francisco I was really feeling autumn in the air! It's my favorite time of the year. Now that I'm back in hot and sultry NYC I know I have to wait a little longer. Your magazine selection looks like fun! I love all Martha Stewart publications.
xxoo Pat
i will post pics of the ketchup making process!
ReplyDeleteI think "winter" food is much more interesting than summer food. I love all the heartiness that the summer is just too hot for. We can't wait for tailgating. Your pets are precious!
ReplyDeleteyou're really kicking summer out aren't you!?
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling rushed for fall. Everybody is praying for the heat to recede, I am not ready to think about Halloween. I am thinking about pork tenderloin in mustard sauce with apples on the side. Also, green tomatoes.
ReplyDeleteAll the Best,
Liz
we are having warm sunny days so are clinging on to summer for all it's worth!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had maple syrup.
do you ever visit christer's blog from sweden that i follow? it is on my sidebar. he lost his 13 year old dog erna yesterday and is just devastated. it is sooo sad.
ReplyDeleteI love your post, Fall is my favorite time. The cupcake spice looks great, an

ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic fun fall post Kary!
ReplyDeleteOf course it would be hard to resist all those cute things, i sometimes buy things just for the packaging.
It was finally partialy sunny here this week, but the air is defintly showing us autumn is on the way. I am ready (though not as ready as you!).
lots love,
lori
Love this post! October and Halloween (Samhain) encompass the best time of the whole year.
ReplyDeleteCandy corn reminds me of my dad... he used to love those.
Just coming by to check on you Kary. It actually feels like fall here in Ohio this weekend! Enjoy the holiday!
ReplyDeleteyou are like me.. in the mood for fall..
ReplyDeleteyea....
You know this post is right up my alley. Sigh. Fall.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I just took a loaf of your dilly bread out of the oven. I did the first part this time in my bread machine, then took it out for the last rising. It worked perfectly. In fact, it rose twice as high this time! (I'm doing all I can to keep from cutting into it right now! It smells heavenly!!)
Looking at yoyr blog, my you live in such beautiful country ..

You have just given me an impulse to go shopping! There is finally a chill in the air here too...and autumn is my favorite time of year...
ReplyDeleteI love fall time. When the kids were little we really got into it. My son was born on Halloween and we would go all out decorating.
ReplyDeleteThat makes me ready for Fall!! I've been lamenting the cooler weather... but you just reminded why I love the season!
ReplyDeleteHi! We came back from our travels and I did hurry to visit with you! And yes, you make me smile. I so do understand, all the orange colors etc. ... happy smile! I did set up our halloween candle already as well, hubby asked me if it was Halloween already, poor thing I got him all confused "nope not Halloween just yet but look how lovely the orange color look here hunny" ... enjoy the fall, hugs!
ReplyDeleteJust began my blogging journey this week. I am so glad to have stumbled upon your sight. My sister-in-law lived in your area years ago and dreams of returning. She has told me so much about the area I feel as if I have been there. I will be moving to the eastern coastal plain of North Carolina soon but I am currently in the heartland of Ohio. You would love Amish Country just north of here. Simplicity and good food abounds. Enjoy September.
ReplyDeleteJust checking to see if you changed the post. It is a good post. Lots of comments..
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should leave my post up longer.
yvonne
Beautiful autumn post. Being the Georgia born girl that I am, I actually prefer pure cane syrup to maple, so thick that it barely pours out of the bottle. As a child I would smash butter in it and spread it on my biscuits - ummmm, wish I had some right now.
ReplyDeleteThere's a place in North Beach - Cafe Divine - that has the most wonderful gingerbread with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. Just had some the other day when my friend from MN was visiting.
