I just made a white sauce..added some chicken I had cooked and cut into tiny pieces, some cubed boiled new potatoes and a few mixed vegetables...made a crust, rolled it out and topped off the pie....
I have a set of these circle cutters I just love...this was the smallest one to make an air vent...
We aren't baking a CHICKEN PIE in the oven tonight...i have the radio on and he just said we reached 110 degrees...did I hear that right? 110 degrees. I remember 105 here in San Luis Obispo in the Summer of 2007...the year we moved here...but 110. Come on. That is just TOO HOT !!!! It has been a really cool summer up until now. I guess my luck ran out. I gave Teddy a cool bath...he loved it. Oh, we're bbqing tonight. After the sun sinks down. And are we all watching the FULL MOON tonight together..and thinking of each other all over this world...I am thinking of you.....

Chicken Pot Pie is one of my very top favorites. Thanks for the reminder. Our weather is getting much cooler and perfect for this. Your's looks wonderful. I'll think of you and Teddy when I watch the moon tonight.
ReplyDeleteToo hot for me! Glad I live up here in the north. Wish I had chicken pot pie for supper tonight!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so good, and I love the vent you made. I'm going to do that next time. It's lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt's been so hot! Just heating up the oven is miserable, but I've got a big man to feed. Vegetables and fruit don't fill him up.
I sat outside last night and the moon was beautiful. Marley was with me... Grace goes to bed at 9:00pm sharp. We sat there for a long, long time.
Enjoy your moon... I may just you from my side of the world.
Hugs,
Joey
looks yummy. comfort food, just what I love. Wow, 110 degrees...stay cool out there!

Your site reminds me of the great Yankee Magazine. Sounds like you have had a great summer. It is so nice you and your husband have had all this time together!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cook--I admire people who are good cooks, I have a few recipes I enjoy making and that is about all.
Have a wonderful week. We need the rain--and I will be glad to see it leave on Thursday, 8/26/10.
I haven't had homemade chicken pie in years...yummy!
ReplyDeleteHugs,

donkey in the scorched pines
I make chicken pie almost exactly like yours! We have it a lot in the fall and winter. Not quite ready to turn the oven on for it yet! Stay cool!
ReplyDeleteWell, Kary and Teddy, I'm actually 29 x 2! It actually works out this year! Over 100 degrees the world is getting hotter and hotter! I don't think we have had as many 85 plus degree days in the 'Burgh for a while! Hope you enjoy that full moon and the chicken pie! Thanks for stopping by my herb garden! xxoo Nancy
ReplyDeleteI LOVE chicken pot pie! And...I love the moon.
ReplyDeleteHope all is well. Stay cool.
Your chicken pie looks so tasty. I don't blame you for not turning on the oven though, wow so darn hot.
ReplyDeleteWe had temps near the 100 degree mark and finally we are getting a reprieve. That crazy high heat is just too much.
ReplyDeletei want chicken pot pie weather!!! where did you get those small circle cutters????
ReplyDelete110????? yikes!
ReplyDeleteyour pot pie looks delicious, one of my
all time favorites!
Mmmm, delicious!
ReplyDeleteWhile it's 110 degrees in CA, it's 63 in NY... crazy!!
So sorry for the heat--we had a beautiful in the upper 70's yea!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe pie does look good though.
Have fun.
Melinda

ReplyDeletexo
p.s. it's 105 here...
This looks so delicious. I am waiting for the cool weather to come so I can actually use my oven again!
ReplyDeleteYUM. It's one of my faves, as well. I really like that cute little round window vent! Stay cool out there. It was actually very pleasant here today. We ate outside on the patio. xx
ReplyDeleteI love chicken pie and being a Georgia girl, I REALLY love chicken and dumplings. I can't believe it was 91 degrees in Daly City today!
ReplyDeleteThe heat...we are feeling it here in Santa Rosa too, though we only hit 104 degrees. Did I actually say ONLY?
ReplyDeleteI hope Teddy's cool bath helped to make him comfortable. My elderly pug, Winnie, has a special cooling jacket that I bought for her last year, a marvelous invention since we don't have air conditioning.
Your pie looks fabulous, but I agree...too hot for baking.
Hi Kary,
ReplyDeleteoh dear where has the time gone? i haven't been blogging too much this summer, so many other things needing my attention.
I've enjoyed myself so much catching up here, your gorgeous pine sign and the tomato post ( i envy your cooking from Julias book) and the summer happenings.
Teddy looks so sweet lying there in the sun, i just know he and owen would have so much fun playing together!
And now you've gotten me wanting to make a pot pie too, I do love those. I am leaving for NYC in the morning till next week, but when i get back i am going to surprise my husband with one!
love + hugs,
lori and owen
Hi Kary, this looks so delicious! I didn't realize that you were having a cooler summer, our New Jersey summer has been one of the hottest and sunniest I can remember. We haven't hit 110 degrees, but you know how the humidity out here can just knock the socks off someone!! I see you've added some really wonderful new photos to your sidebar - the corn looks yummy and it's not so easy to grow. Hope all is well, give Teddy a snuggle for me! Ciao, bella!
ReplyDeleteHi! sorry for the heat coming your way! We're at the Indian summer here already!! Huray!!! Sending some brisk air your way :-) Happy day!!
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of the heat, too...looking forward to you-know-what! (I don't think I have to say the word.)
ReplyDeleteThat pie looks mighty fine! I wouldn't mind a nice heaping slice of that. Yum.
Thinking of you, too...we're under the same moon and stars...
Dawn
Chicken pot pie looks awesome! I need to do this but it is very hot here, too. It still sounds good since I have a summer cold.
ReplyDeleteYep, lately we've had 110 temps. I can't make a pie crust to save my neck.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Thanks for stopping by my blog and taking the time to leave a comment. I've enjoyed reading some of your blog. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis looks incredible! Do you think I could use salmon instead of chicken? I love the red barn, btw ;)
ReplyDeleteWe're down to 78 degrees here today! Quick send me that pie I'll pop it in my oven immediately!
ReplyDeletexo Jane
It's hot up here also so hot we are heading to the mountains for the week-end. I think I'll try baking some scones in my little trailer oven!! That is always kind of fun and homey.
ReplyDeleteYour chicken pie looks lovely, and ohh, the crust, the crust! I have crust envy!!! LOL, as I mentioned before, crust is "big" in my family! Well, if you can't cook the pie you can freeze it for another day! Not to make you feel bad, but it's 62 degrees in Maine, I could wear mittens! However, it's supposed to be 90 this weekend, can't wait! http://oceanbreezesandcountrysneezes.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteYummy!! Hugs to the baby!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Lisa
Oh, i sooo love chix pie!! homemade? Even better. So, how can you send me one? :)
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping our days of heat are behind us; mornings and evenings have been very cool and the daytime temps have dropped a trifle as well.
ReplyDeleteThe chicken pot pie looks really, really good.
Indeed - quite a hearty meal - not suitable for the heat! Looks yum though! xxx
ReplyDeleteChicken pie - divine!
ReplyDeleteLook delicious! I think I am just getting the fell of making a pie tonight as well! Thanks for sharing this post. But including the recipe in this post would have been better. So I can try that out. LOL
ReplyDeleteOh. These chicken pies are my favorite! I can still remember the time when my grandma used to cook these pies to bribe me to say that she is the prettiest grandma in the world and guess what..I always give in to my grandma's trick! LOL. Oh. I miss my grandma! Thanks for this post! i think I want to visit my good old granny this weekend!
ReplyDeleteYummy is all I can say! I will try making this chicken pie for our snack time. The kids will really like this one.
