My sweet peas just picked.
There is the Dandegirl in that baby gate box. That is a big hit around here. Dande just loves it. Sometimes she hangs out on the roof, but this morning she wanted inside the kitty condo.
My sweet peas before I picked them this morning.
The first bloom today on my berries and cream rose I am trying to get to grow over the trellis by the picnic table.I have images of us sitting under there this summer with little you-know-who having a bbq.
My black and orange Halloween kitty I named Pixiegirl. She showed up on Labor Day 2008. John and I were sitting at the picnic table eating bbqed chicken...and she must have been one very hungry little cat, because she came up to me..and she was so skittish. I gave her some chicken and next morning there she was at the kitchen door. Been there ever since.Took me over one year to let me pet her.Someone had abused her. I think it was the neighbor across the way that told me she was getting her 2 year old a kitten. How perfect is that? You know the little girl was rough on the kitty, then they moved back to L.A. and look who I got.Why do people move away and leave their pets behind? ARG ! But we're best buddies now. And her favorite thing in the whole world. To be petted. Good girl, Pixie.

Love your beautiful pictures and pixie is adorable.

I love your Teddy's on the way, sweet pea, kitty post.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good evening.
Lovely photos of flowers and your girls. Pretty soon you will be introducing Teddy into your family. No one can take Buddy's place, but you have wonderful memories and in time you will talk and laugh about his antics. He is waiting on the other side of the 'Rainbow Bridge'.
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs ~ FlowerLady
oh i am excited for you i forgot you had to wait a bit to get Teddy not long now though. what a seet cat too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cats!... and love the adoption story. Happy endings!.... and new beginnings on the horizon.
ReplyDeleteYou're so strong for getting through this terrible loss ♥ I'm so looking forward to seeing your little Teddy soon!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are absolutely gorgeous, and so are your kitties!
P.S.- Nothing saddens/angers me more than people who leave their pets behind when they move. I just cannot comprehend it. I would rather live out of a cardboard box than EVER leave my cat. Simply unfathomable!
I get really irritated (more like enraged) when people don't treat their animals right. We got our cat from the humane society and she had a big wound on her neck. The people that had her didn't want to take her to the vet to get fixed up. Turns out she had swallowed a sewing needle and it was stuck inside her neck (poor little kitty). We got her all fixed up and she's the best cat ever. I freaked out when I realized that the former owners just gave her up when she was wounded.
ReplyDeletePS: The sweet peas are beautiful!
A good friend of mine just adopted a 10 week old puppy she thinks was abused! At that age? Incredible... love the picture of your sweet peas..... so much to look forward to!!!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear the countdown for dear Teddy has begun. Looking forward to photos of him cuddled in your loving arms!
ReplyDeleteLove your sweet peas and your cute little feet. xx
ReplyDeleteI love your picture and the berries and cream rose is AWESOME!!! I love roses. THANKS!!! for sharing your cats.
ReplyDeleteGeri
I know you are getting so excited to get Teddy...we all are, too! :)
ReplyDeleteThose blue sweetpeas are beautiful! Mine are only pink and white!
I'm glad you will be adopting Teddy! There are so many pets that need a good home and love. It is obvious that Pixie cat knew who to find ( you!) to heal and learn how to love.
ReplyDeleteWe've had some wonderful warm weather in NY this week and all the flowering trees are blooming! Now I know what it is like to have a warm April like you do out there in California...I love it!
Enjoy your delicate sweet peas!
xxoo Pat
Hi Kary, I hope you doing well. Lovely sweet peas. They are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your little Teddy! I'm sure he will love his new home.
Wonderful pictures! The sweet peas are just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYour cats are so cute! We cared for quite a few homeless pets at our last house. One of them eventually became an indoor cat, but he never got along well with our other cats. He was a great companion for us, though.
2 weeks isn't so long but I'm sure it seems like an eternity....good thing kitty found you when she did : ) You are very sweet to take her in.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful kitties! Beautiful photos! And beautiful adoption story! xx
ReplyDeletei can't imagine leaving pets behind either. i just can't.
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see shots of teddy's homecoming.
Hello I am glad I saw you over at Kims @ whitewhispers2u.
ReplyDeleteLove the adoption story and YOUR CAT L@@KS just like my Moms.
I love your header...DREAMY!!

Sweet peas have such an aura about them,
ReplyDeletethey have their own personality and quirks (like growing were they were not planned). In my old home in DC I had curtains made of Laura Ashley's pink and blue Sweet Pea pattern. I loved them.
Abominable, people who leave their pets behind.
Hang on in there girl, only two weeks to go.
ReplyDeleteYour sweet peas are beautiful.

I cannot imagine abandoning a pet, never knowing how/if it will survive. Very, very sad.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are lovely and, before you know it Teddy will be home with you.
I don't understand how people can leave their family pets behind when they move.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are lovely, and I must comment on your cats - adorable!!
I was so sad when I read about your Buddy but help is on the way:) I am sure you'll love Tedy the same way. Pixiegirl is such a cutie and it makes me smile to know she has a loving home now.. I am such a sucker for animals....
ReplyDeleteyour kittens are so adorable! looking forward to see teddy!
ReplyDeletehave a sweet day,
justyna
I've never understood how people can leave pets behind. They are not disposable! You must be so excited about Teddy - I know you will never get over the loss of Buddy, but having Teddy will help ease the pain a bit. When our Winston died, we were heartbroken. But we had Scout and that forced us to go on.

So sorry to hear about Buddy. I have not been in blogland for a while and was saddened to hear about your loss.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear about your new addition! Wish he could come and play with Uncle Cheddar! Lots of love to you and your new red fluff ball.
hi kary...we have such trouble here with people dropping pets off at the parks. there are feral cats all over the place. it really makes me mad that people are so irresponsible. 2 weeks and counting each day! what a lovely place that liitle baby is coming home to!
ReplyDeleteLove the flowers - so pretty! Can't wait to see pics of Teddy in his new home!
ReplyDeleteWe also have a Pixie....I can't believe we even spell it the same way. Our Pixie is a black cat with chartreuse green eyes. Your kitties are so sweet and photogenic!
ReplyDelete♥, Susan
This is the good blog with good images and good details. Please keep on posting the more stuff. I will like to hear more from you.
ReplyDeleteKary dear....SO love the kitties, what a lovely story about Pixie! We know a girl who took over the running of a pub near here & when she went upstairs, behind a shut door, she found an almost-dead mother mongrel dog & 3 puppies. The last, evil people had been gone 5 days. Luckily she got there in time, they went safely to a shelter. I hate it when someone does something bad & others say they behaved 'like animals'. To my mind, people always behave MUCH worse than animals...and they choose to be that way too! Anyway, happier thoughts...Alice was asking me today when your new baby would be here...I had to explain all over again! She's so excited, as am I. That puppy-behind-the-ear smell...ahhh.
ReplyDeleteA special though for darling Buddy too..his beauty is all around you now, as is his little spirit. With you always & forever.
Love to you all, Alice & Me xoxox
Hi Kary,
ReplyDeleteDidn't make my walk today. Not feeling up to par. Tomorrow.
It won't be long now. Teddddddddyy!
Sending love, magnolia
What a sweet story about Pixie. Gives me hope in trying to redeem my new abused rescue dog, Rikki. I'll be posting about her soon! Buddy will be in your heart forever, but hopefully Teddy will help your heart heal. Still missing my Wendy, but Rikki needs my affection.
ReplyDeletedear kary,
ReplyDeletei love your colorful post and all your pictures. that darling kitty is a very lucky girl indeed.
sweet peas are my favorite flower, i can smell them from here!
lots of love,
lori
Lovely pics!! I am not surprised you are counting down the days! I would!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Lisa
I can tell that animals play a very important part of your life. I'm so happy that you gave Pixie a home and that you have shown her what love really is. It disturbs me to think that someone could just abandon a poor innocent animal. Disgusting actually.
ReplyDeleteJust a quick good morning before I head off to a crazy day of weddings at work. Gee, I remember when you planted your sweet peas in your flip flops and we were under 3 ft. of snow here! They are so beautiful and full of hope. The lamb of love brings much hope also. A big hug to you. Jane
ReplyDeleteYAY for the adoption of Teddy! I have a actually been keeping up with your blog these last two weeks, I have just been bad about commenting. I would go to Panera and only allow myself the allotted time from my computer's battery life. Otherwise I would have stayed in there drinking coffee and commenting on blogs all day... and NEVER would have gotten unpacked :)
ReplyDeleteIt's good to be "back" and SO SO GOOD TO HAVE YOU BACK, friend!
it will be so fun heading towards fall with you and julie! i go through the motions for spring and summer and each day get a bit more excited that we are heading towards fall. the happiest day of the year is the day i get my first pumpkins!
ReplyDeleteDear friend, Teddy is the luckiest little puppy in the world to have your love. I bet you cannot wait to hold him and kiss him, and snuggle close. Thinking of you, and of sweet Buddy.
ReplyDeleteHello Kary,

My husband and I still haven't found another dog after our "Plugger" died. I think it's great that you have Teddy coming your way. Have a fabulous weekend!
ReplyDeleteBless your animal loving heart...the world is a better place because of you and all your love
ReplyDeleteThat's so exciting. I'm not much of a pet lover but I understand the feeling.
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
Nisrine
Thank you Kary for visiting me!!
ReplyDeleteOf course you would kave a blackboard/chalkboard any blogger who has such a wonderful farmhouse header like yours has a passion for cafe style and a place for creative thoughts put to words.
I want to move into your header...PLEASE!!!
I just posted a new post with tattered muslin Tassels gypsy cottage style hope you come by to see them if you can make it over.
See you soon for more inspiring photos.

Your sweet peas are beautiful. They always make me think of my Mom, that was her nickname.
ReplyDeleteYour kitties are adorable...love the one of Dandegirl in the box. Looking forward to meeting Teddy : )
Children and animals all love boxes! It's their favorite way to spend an hour or so.
