This has shaken me right to my very core. It has turned my world upsidedown . At times I really wondered if I could carry on. Would I be better off with Buddy? Maybe. I didn't know a human could be that sad. And lonely. I didn't know a human could cry that much. You can. Right after Buddy died, someone told me you won't be able to breathe for a month. They were right. I couldn't. But I will tell you this. Having all you wonderful, wonderful friends in this place we call a BLOG has saved me. I don't know what I would have done without you. This is a great community of the greatest people I have ever been lucky enough to meet.
There will be a new little red toy poodle coming into my life around the 20th of April. And I can hardly wait for him. I know I just can not live my life without a dog. No way.John and I will be driving down to Southern California to pick him up. And we are naming him Teddy. After a very, very special friend. Thanks for all your kind words and encouragement during the darkest days of my life. I love you all and can't wait to share Teddy with you. Kary.
Dear Teddy,
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the loving world of John and Kary. You are one lucky puppy and they are lucky too.
I can't wait to meet you in person and to watch you explore the garden and your new family.
Grow strong,
Auntie Sharon
Dear dear friend,
ReplyDeleteWhat a joy for you, after all your heartbreak. It will be wonderful to get to know your adorable Teddy.
Love,
Marjorie
OMG OMG OMG.....teddy and i are so flattered!!! i am so happy to hear hope in your voice again my dear friend. i sure know how hard this has been for you! and teddy and i can't wait to watch the new little teddy grow and thrive with his wonderful mom!!!
ReplyDeleteTeddy is just adorable, Kary! Although, he'll never replace your precious Buddy, there is nothing that can bring a smile to the heart like a new puppy in the house. Peace and blessing to you and sweet Teddy. xx
ReplyDeleteDear Octoberfarm and Teddy,
ReplyDeleteI hoped it would be o.k. to name him Teddy. I wondered. And I am SO HAPPY you love it too.
It just felt right...
Sending love to you and Teddy,
Kary and Teddy
I didn't think I was ready for another furry friend after the second of our two beloved elderly cats passed away.
ReplyDeleteNow, Victoria has been with us for just four or five months and I can't imagine her not in our life.
She will never take the place of our other two kitties, who were such a part of our life for so long, but she very quickly made her way into our hearts and home.
Congratulations and may Teddy quickly become a part of the family.
it's like the part in one of my favorite movies, steel magnolias. remember the part when daryl hanna asks sally field if it is ok if she names her baby shelby after sally field's dead daughter.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking (and worrying) about you. I'm so glad you're back!
ReplyDeleteTeddy is one lucky little puppy! I'm sure you are going to love him like crazy!
Well, Kary, it is so good to hear you in a better frame of mind. I know nothing and no one can replace Buddy but it will be good for you to have another pet to love. I am sad we did not get to eat, especially as, the Thursday night of the SLO farmer's market, I stopped in for a bite at the Big Sky Cafe..I think you said that is close to you. I had a wonderful rendevous with Chris at a fabulous place, McPhee's in Templeton. The only thing that would have made the door more complete would have been you.
ReplyDeleteDearest of friends,
ReplyDeleteHappy dance, I'm doing a happy, happy dance of celebration!
First, you ventured out to blog. The healing has begun.
Second, a new precious baby, the healing has begun.
Third, the name, Teddy is perfect. I love jaz's Teddy and this is a name chosen of love and connection. A strong bond.
Third, you may think me silly, but I believe this will make Buddy happy. He has a little brother. Buddy was a soul mate, a kindred, he wants you to be happy.
I believe in the after life, the new life, we go on together, animal loves and human alike.
I'm exicted too, because I will be a part of this new story. :))

....(here's the finish of my post, I accidentally pressed post comment, in my excitement.)
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you and hubby and new Teddy Love, now I have two Teddy's to love! Awesome.
A sweet hello from Frog Hollow Farm. I'm so glad that you are feeling better and so very excited that you will be getting a new little dog - it's just wonderful! Take care! Ciao, bella!
ReplyDeletei am glad you have found someone else to share your big beautiful heart, though it will not take the place of your baby, he will be a new baby to love and cherish
ReplyDeleteWhat a little sweetie pie Teddy is. How wonderful to have a new sweet friend to watch grow from puppy to helper.
ReplyDeleteHugs ~ FlowerLady
I'm glad to hear from you again, dear Kary.
ReplyDeleteAs a dog mommy, I always believed that dogs are like angels in our lives. I am sure Buddy will keep sending his love to you through Teddy because they're all linked souls.
God bless you, dear friend. Teddy is coming and we're here waiting to meet him, too.
Blogland is really a special place for so special people. A place where we meet friends and love them through our souls no matter in which place of the world each one of us are.
Sending love, hope and all my friendship,
Claudia ;)
Such an exciting time and I know that he is one lucky pup! Congratulations Kary and John and little Teddy too! xxoo Nancy
ReplyDeleteHere comes happiness!

Lovely news. One dog (or cat) doesn't replace another, but makes a new place in our hearts instead. Teddy was my mother's name; I hope your little new boy will be as much of a big characterful presence in your lives as she was in mine!
ReplyDeleteKary...Teddy is adorable...Buddy will know that you always hold a special place in your heart for him. I'm glad to see you back! Take care...
ReplyDeleteHi Kary,
ReplyDeleteI saw the name of your blog on a comment to FlowerLady. I wanted to come see your kitchen, and will have to look to see if I can find it posted about.
I'm sorry for your loss of Buddy. It's been a number of years since our yellow lab died, and we got another only a couple months later. The family we had gotten Katie from had given Heidi to a family who wasn't treating her very well, and she wasn't working out for them, so we took her in, and it has worked out fine.
Hi Kary, I'm glad to know that you have the arrival of Teddy to look forward to as you have had such a harrowing time of late. Best wishes, Lesley
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you! It's a thing we all face when we say yes, I want that furbaby, because they cannot stay with us for as many years as we'd ask. Your new little one will come to a wonderful home and you'll love again.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you are on the mends. Teddy will bring such new joy to your life.
ReplyDeleteHappy Peaceful Sunday Hug,
Kate
Glad you are doing better.
ReplyDeleteI have an urgent prayer request on arise 2 write.

I am very much looking forward to reading all about the adventures of Teddy. Such a cute little name.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are feeling better. ((hugs)) :)
Oh, what happy news!! That is one lucky puppy!! And Buddy is doing a Happy Dance, knowing that you loved him THAT much, that your life with him was filled with so much joy, that you are opening it once again to another furry friend who needs a loving human.
ReplyDeleteAnd what an honor for Jaz and her Teddy!! Oh My Stars! It is beyond awesome and extremely thoughtful!
Of course, I hope that Jaz is prepared though, because when her Teddy finds out, she is going to expect extra salmon from now on. It isn't every day that a girl becomes an inspiration!
Congratulations Kary! I can't tell you how happy I am for you! I'm going to truly enjoy seeing those baby photos!!
Best Wishes. I am so glad you have a little dog coming. Looking forward to photoes.
ReplyDeleteMy heart truly, truly goes out to you. My cats are my children, and I fear more than anything the day we have to part.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you to get your poodle, though... it might just be the thing you need♥ Sending many hugs!
Good luck and very nice life with new friend.
ReplyDeleteGabriella
I think Buddy would most certainly approve of Teddy! Awww...isn't he cute! Welcome back, kary.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about your dog. So exciting that your getting Teddy, that will be special!
ReplyDeleteCindy
I am so excited for you finding your new little friend! what a cute photo!!! I know how you feel about not being able to live without a dog in you life... I feel the same way, I have never not had a dog and I think I would feel so lost! Again I am so sorry for your loss of Buddy, but am excited for your new adventure with Teddy! So much love to you!
ReplyDeleteEach being that comes into our lives gives us an enormous gift. We become more human with each encounter. Glad to see you back.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new baby. My husband's name is Roger but his family nickname is Teddy. I hope the new puppy will be a wonderful friend for many years to come.
ReplyDeleteI started reading your blog right before you lost Buddy and when I read that you had lost him my thoughts were... when you love a dog that much, truly the only way to patch your soul is with another Buddy. This is not to belittle your grief in losing him, but once you've had a great dog love in your life, you aren't truly YOU without one around. I know that feeling very well. Good for you, looking forward to photos of Teddy :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful news. Teddy is adorable. Glad to see you back here on the blog scene...was worried about you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky pooch to have you in his life.
Best wishes
xo
Awww, Teddy looks like a little lamb, literally, are you sure you're getting a poodle?
ReplyDeleteSo happy to read such wonderful news. So happy to read anything from you. Glad you are slowly healing. Hugs. Jane
Oh, sweet Kary, I am so happy for you! You will find that with cute and happy little Teddy in your life, you'll soon be able to remember Buddy without so many tears. Our pets are such wonderful healers! Much love, Silke
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by the blog Kary...I'm glad you shared the news about Teddy with everyone...he's is sooo cute. Take care : )
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you are getting a new pup! After losing my precious terrier, Wendy, I didn't know if I was healed enough to get another dog. My other dog, Dudley, seemed so lost and alone and I realized that getting another pet did not in any way diminish my love and affection for Wendy. Rikki is my new wire haired Jack Russel Terrier. She was a rescue dog who really needed the love and attention I could give her. She is snoring in her little bed beside my desk as I type now! By the way, I love the name "Teddy"! He looks like a little old fashioned teddy bear! Hugs, V.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you dear Kary, I am happy to hear you will soon have a new bundle of joy to help ease your heartache. Your Buddy will never be forgotten and Teddy will help to bring joy in your life once again.
ReplyDeleteHere's an early welcome to Teddy. He looks adorable. I'm so glad you have found him and he is lucky to have found such a loving home.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself and stay strong.
Well, we look forward to 'meeting' you new litel "teddy!" I'm happy for you. more joy adn more love to go round.
ReplyDelete"I don't know what I would have done without you."
--So true for me too many times.
Oh wow you poor darling, such sadness for so long. I am happy to hear you have a little bundle of joy coming your way, he will be one spoilt little baby for sure. What a joy for you.
ReplyDeleteI will be thinking of you on April 20 when you and Teddy will meet and Teddy will join your family. I hope your tears will end when the time is right and that you will find joy again.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of your loss. Chin up!
ReplyDeleteWe are all thinking of you and wishing you the greatest joy with Teddy!!!!! It's going to be a wonderful spring, I promise.
ReplyDeleteXOXO dawn
Thank you so much for stopping my my blog! And you are certainly right. Jaz is one very special lady. It is no wonder that she is partnered up with Teddy the wonder dog! I swear the two of them could change the weather if they so desired, they are that magical! I'm SO happy that they brought you comfort, and in their own way, have lead you to your own miracle, darling Teddy!
ReplyDeleteKary, I am happy to see that you are posting again. I know your pain...it is years later, and I still feel it. Wish I could be there to give you a big hug...and see the new member of your family.
ReplyDelete♥, Susan

ReplyDeleteKary, I'm so sorry for your loss of Buddy. I can't even imagine how you've been feeling. I'm sorry that I am just now reading about this. Sending many happy thoughts your way and wishing you well. I'm glad that Teddy will be coming into your life soon.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
~Jamie
Hello Kary,
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking and Teddy and you since yesterdays post.
On pins and needles until the big day.!
I know how you feel, can't breath, think, cope, all over the loss of an animal...who would think it would be that hard. But I know. I lost my cat, Tink, after nine years...I can still cry just thinking about him. There has been a big void where he once sleep in my lap, on my bed, and followed me everywhere I went inside and out. It has been 1 1/2 years ago now and I still have not replaced him...mostly because I don't want to get too attached again.........
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you though! :)
Feeling your joy and your pain.
I am so looking forward to meeting Teddy!
ReplyDeleteIt's so good to hear from you again. I am really excited you're getting a new puppy! They really do bring alot of healing. When I got my puppy after my dog died it actually took me a couple of days to bond with her. I let my daughter carry her and sit with her. I didn't want to get attached and then be hurt again, but after 2 days I told my daughter "let me have my dog"! It's been 2 years and I still miss Tootsie, but Tula sure is alot of fun.
ReplyDeleteHello Kary, I have been thinking a lot about you recently, I am so glad you are OK, and am overjoyed that you will soon have 'Teddy'. I am looking forward to hearing all about his antics. What a lucky puppy to be going to live with such lovely humans.
ReplyDeleteXX
Kary, Thanks for your comment on my blog. I was worried about you. My husband is quite interested in your new puppy. Nibbles is our little dog who looks a lot like Buddy did. Nibbles was supposed to be a red poodle but turned out to be more of a champagne color. Man and dog are best of friends, but Nibbles is getting on in years himself. Well, so is Roger. He just turned 73. When he walks the dog 5 times a day or more, I don't fuss since that has been his major exercise since his stroke 5 years ago just before we got married. We had been dating for 5 years after meeting at work. Anyway, thankfully, Roger has taken up golf again playing his first round in 5 years last week! Anyway, I just wanted to say hi.
ReplyDeleteDearest Kary, perfect puppy, perfect name...I just know that your darling Buddy is approving heartily from his place on the Rainbow Bridge where he waits for you. No one can underestimate the pain of losing a beloved pet. Truly one of life's hardest experiences. I am so happy for you, John & your new baby! Alice was an April baby, we got her in June...it's a good time of year. She & I send our fondest love and she's looking forward to meeting the little fellow & greeting him with a big sisterly lick & sniff! Love to you sweetheart, it's good to hear your 'voice' again. xoxoxox Rachel & Alice
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your sweet comment you left on my blog...I am so so sorry for your loss. I understand how much sorrow you must be feeling as we lost our sweet Rosie just before Christmas. Nothing can replace the love of an animal. Sending you hugs today ...
ReplyDeleteDear Friend,
ReplyDeleteYou remain in my thoughts.
I'm so sorry to hear about Buddy. I know exactly what you're going through. We lost our Plugger last summer. He was 13 years old. I still miss him and think about him all the time. I don't know when we'll get another dog.
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking of you on April 20th. Good luck with your new little one!
Oh dear Kary, I have been thinking about you daily, wondering how you're doing. I am so glad Teddy will be joining you. What a blessing you'll both be for each other. And I cannot wait to see those photos of your new baby!
ReplyDeleteHugs and love, dear friend.
dear kary,
ReplyDeletei'm so happy for you and the new little one too, silke is right, our pets are such wonderful healers. many blessings to you and your husband,
all the best dear heart,

Hi Kary,
ReplyDeleteI felt so good to know that you will have little Teddy in your life, too! I think that Buddy will always be your special love but I also think that you have so much love to share with many dear sweet pets.
Am very much looking forward to meeting Teddy via your wonderful blog! Take good care!
Hi Kary - somehow I missed this post - my life has been stressful lately with the loss of my father-in-law. Anyway, I wanted to let you know I understand. Truly. When our dog Winston died, I couldn't stop crying for weeks - months. I couldn't talk about to anyone without crying. I went into a sort of depression. I'm so glad you are getting a little puppy. And Buddy will be smiling...of that I am sure.
