I don't mean to dwell on it, I really don't. But I just got back from Scolaris Grocery and when I walked in the gate the temperature on the thermometer read 81 degrees.Sorry.It is hot. We are in a Heat Wave. I thought about getting out the fan for Buddy, but he seems o.k. for now. All the doors and windows are wide open. We decided to bbq chicken tonight and I wish you were all here with me.I am sauteeing spinach and making couscous. After the holidays we are burnt out on Christmas Food.
The cosmos are coming up on the side of the fence. Those big green stalks against the shed are sunflowers. Sorry, again. The other plants are basil...and me in my sandals today.Wish you were here.
Oh my golly you are making me crave summer so badly! The BBQ, the basil, the cosmos, oh how I yearn for the sunshine to warm my skin and to smell the fragrance of the sweet peas growing in my garden...
Girl you are really rubbing it in on all of us aren't you. lol It is 34 here right now and it feels like 24 inside this ole farmhouse. I think I might freeze in here tonight. Enjoy all that warm weather for us or look out we might all be moving to your neighborhood. Barbque chicken sounds good. I am making chili....lol Maggie
I've got frost on my nose and on my toes... My heating bill is going to be astronomical. I'm sick of Christmas food too... I want to eat summery salads and cool ice tea on the terrace. Boo!
Oh my Lord, Kary! I can't say that I'm not a little bit jealous...it's about -6c here currently (10.30pm), never got above freezing today, thick white frost on everything...leave the de-iced car for 15 mins, and it's a re-iced car! The kind of dry cold that makes you cough when you take a deep breath. It's beautiful, for sure. It's totally right for January here (& I really hate the murky, mild wet winters we've had recently) BUT it would be nice to switch the heating off, see green leaves...not too long now, the nights are getting shorter slowly...ENJOY your sun, and keep bringing it to us! xox
BBQ chicken sounds wonderful and to see a bouquest of cosmos on my table would be just delightful. Alas; here in the East we are dining on winter fare, Beef Stew and biscuits joined by a Poinsettia for winter flare.
Unfortunately, my grill is buried under a foot of snow right now...otherwise I would love to barbecue some chicken as well. I'm jealous that your outdoor plants look so alive.
ARGH don't TELL me! I want 81 whole degrees so badly! I can't do the cold! It was 16 degrees here today! I like it cold for Christmas and then I want it to magically warm up.
Your warm day sounds devine. We started the day at 9 degrees and it went all the way up to 14. A barbeque and an evening on the patio sounds wonderful. Unfortunetely the tiki torches have snow hats. But the one good thing is...no mosquitos! Have fun : )
I loved it when my son was at Cal Poly...I miss being down there on occasion...especially love the Thursday night Farmer's Market...that was always so wonderful.
oh my goodness, i can:t even imagine! it's snowing here. would have loved to join you sweetheart. can't wait to see those sunflowers open up. xo love you!
81 - you lucky gal! It was 20 when I got back from the gym this morning. Just thinking about the scent of fresh basil when you touch it...well, enjoy the BBQ!
Wow. It's about 15 below with wind chill factor and 5 or 6 inches of new snow on top of the old snow... I'm eating comfort, cold weather food to keep up energy and calories...still need to go to the barn for chores. Give B. a hug for me and everyone stay safe.
Arent we lucky to have this amazing warm weather in Dec./Jan.? although I wouldn't mind it a little cooler-yesterday it was 75 downtown San Diego--beautiful, but I would like to wear some of those winter sweaters...enjoy it while it lasts!
I'm very pleased for you .....said she with chattering teeth . This is the 20th day of snow here and I , for one , have had enough ! Sausages and Mash for our supper and lots of something green and fresh before I start pining . I'd so love some bbq in your garden instead !
yum, yum! Chicken bbq! It is nice to see a sunny post instead of a snowy one! Fancy telling the sun that we are in need of his services over in the UK right now? A blizard is forecast on the weather report...Thanks for your sweet comments on my last post :). Bubba is a cute kitty isn't he? Bless his little heart... xxx
I can't believe it is so warm just afew hours south. I'm still sitting next to my pellet stove, but that might be because I like my new studio space so much! Hope you enjoyed your chicken.
Kary, you have a gorgeous blog, I feel like I'm visiting HGTV (one of my favourite channels). Thanks for stopping by and hope to see your Creative Tuesday contribution soon!
I would miss the snow! I don't have to commute any more so I love to see the snow coming down! The Herbal Husband isn't so happy with the snow! Lovely pics as always Kary!
I hope it isn't all gone... I want my plate filled (with leftovers it seems)! I also love Cosmos ~ Sometimes I can't seem to leave you a message when I'd like (it doesn't accept my signature), but I always try. Love your blog!!
the night will never stay, the night will still go by, though with a million stars you pin it to the sky; though you bind it with the blowing wind, and buckle it with the moon, the night will slip away like sorrow or a tune.
The snow is falling as we speak. I've not only wearing my woolly socks, but my woolly slippers, as well. Mmm. Save some for me!
ReplyDeleteI'm on my way...I'll take a thigh and a leg...yum!

ReplyDeleteI don’t like heat waves, but love bbq. We have just had some more snow last night, so everything is pretty much white all around. Enjoy!
