i read this tip years ago...if your butter is cold, grate it...and it works pretty well.....
i threw everything into my mixer and let it go...

i am so IN LOVE with brown eggs. I would really like to get 3 chickens this SPRING but I am worried about my little stray kitty...Pixie Rose Marie...she is so skittish as it is I would be worried that chickens would scare her off....she has been here 3 years now...I always wonder what would have happened to her if I hadn't moved in here...
We are in the middle of a huge Nor'Easter. These cookies should be in my oven baking and making the house smell sugary. The Daff's do look like spring, maybe when the snow stops I'll head to the market and buy myself a bunch or two. It might take more than the daffodils though to make me forget about all this snow. I'm not complaining it is gorgeous looking.
ReplyDeleteNow at my small home at the edge of the woods
ReplyDeleteI would love to have several chickens
But - would have to have shelter for them
Something might harm them - from out of the woods.
Plus - my 1 year old Callie that I rescued - she might try to catch them.
So - a small dream on hold
i have wanted chicken for years! oh to have fresh eggs. google the eglu. it keeps chickens inside their own space so everyone stays safe! yummy cookies. i have my sarabeth cookbook laying right in front of me. i have not made one thing from it yet.
ReplyDeleteKary, your cookies look delicious! I love the pedestal you placed them on, it's just beautiful! Thanks for the butter tip, it looks pretty also! We always use brown eggs, are they hard to come by in your area? We can get white, and I do on occasion, but I always go back to brown, it's what I grew up with. I think I thought white eggs were "elegant" when I was a kid! LOL!!! How crazy is it that we both posted a Sarabeth recipe? Too bad Susan didn't! I'll have to give her a call! LOL!!! Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteI have to get that cookbook. I saw Sarabeth at the Where Women Cook event in NYC. I still haven't had a chance to even look through her book at the bookstore.
ReplyDeleteI love oatmeal raisin cookies!

Oh, I almost forgot, I love Angels Cove, that's where Duke came from, they are so nice to deal with. I often go back to that site to see if Duke would like a sister . . . my husband would get another one in a heartbeat, but I'm nervous about another dog and how Duke would feel. We have a name picked out if we do, it's going to be Lottie, that was my husband's grandmother's name. And did I tell you his grandfather's name was Duke? Yup, we named our Duke after my husbands grandfather! . . . we came close to getting a Lottie a few years ago . . .
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and Teddy!
The cookbook sounds amazing. Great tip about the butter too. I'm baking chocolate chip cookies today - good day to keep the oven on here in PA. :)

What a good tip, grating butter, I would never have thought of that. Thanks. Diane
ReplyDeleteBeautiful daffodils and the cookies look delish! Xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have a cookie right about now and though I had a nice walk in the snow this morning, I am looking forward to spring!
ReplyDeleteI can almost smell those cookies! They look delicious!! I love the daffs! I'm so anxious for spring to arrive.
ReplyDeleteI thought you'd be interested, I stumbled across some recipes from Vincent Price while I was looking for information about the cookbook the other day. I'm thinking about making the shrimp scampi tonight. I'll let you know how it turns out.
those look completely yummy. i will have to remember the butter trick because i always forget to take it out of the freezer in time.
ReplyDeleteThose oatmeal raisin cookies look scrumptious. I feel my sweet tooth awakening...
ReplyDeleteDaffodils! My favorite. :) Pretty picture of them too.
ReplyDeleteYum! The cookies look wonderful. I have sunflower seed I just don't have the recipe or a Sarabeth cookbook. I get fresh eggs from my neighbor if I don't have to get the sled out to go get them. I'm being grumpy because of the snow and cold weather, sorry.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you could just pick all of those cookies off the plate and run! Delish! Teddy is a lucky, lucky doggie! xxoo Nancy
ReplyDeleteOatmeal raisin cookies, yummy 'licious!
ReplyDeleteOnce upon a time, long ago, in my first...long...30 year marriage, we had chickens and it was glorious to gather the eggs. Brown and white eggs from: red; black & white; and black chickens. I don't remember what kind of chickens, just the colors. We also had a garden with lots of good veggies. It was great fun. We only ate the eggs, never the chickens.
Thanks & much love to you and Teddy Sweet Boy, for checking on me.
Many tears have fallen, many sobs escape, and many more will come. I have accepted this grief and will work may way through. My Zoe was another child to me. Some may not understand, but I know you do, and Jaz too!
Blessing & love, kiss Teddy Sweet boy for me!
I appreciate you!
The cookies look delicious Kary and the daffodils are so cheering and - although it's anything but springlike here, the days are lengthening minute by minute. x
ReplyDeleteI miss all of my chickens! They were like little Grannys wandering all over! Something came in and killed over 20 of them! But this was with my X. I would love to have a pile of speckled Barred Rocks again! Plz send cookies to my Inbox yum yum!
ReplyDeleteKary, my those cookies look delicious. Might you have a recipe for Soft Old Fashioned Molasses cookies? I am trying to locate a recipe similar to one my great grandmother use to make. The cookies were soft almost cake like and puffed in the middle. Now in regards to chickens, take the plunge and get a few, you won't regret it.It is so wonderful to have little "peeps" in the house. A lovely little coop would look perfect in your backyard and just think of all those fresh brown eggs! Blessings from snow filled Maine.
ReplyDeletelooks wonderful, I love oatmeal cookies! I like that little tip about grating the butter, I will have to try that. I hope your winter has cooled a little bit, we are having a storm today...
ReplyDeleteI love the post you did with the close ups of little Teddy, he is so, so, SO cute!!!
p.s. I am offering a giveaway through my friends blog, you should pop over and check it out!

Great idea about the butter. And I've always wanted chickens. But we move so much that I've been afraid to take the plunge.
ReplyDeletewe just got 2 feet of snow. I love oatmeal cookies... I have sunflower seeds. Care to share her recipe?!
ReplyDeleteI haven't baked cookies since before Christmas, and yours are making me wish I had some! They look yummy. I love my chickens, and they get along just fine with my cats. They just ignore each other. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat tip with grating cold cheese. Cookies look so good. I want some. I definitely think you should get some chickens. You won’t regret it. If you get them a coop and a small run, they won’t bother sweet kitty and you can still get your eggs :)
ReplyDeleteHow did you know oatmeal raisin are my favorite cookies?
ReplyDeleteI'll be checking the mail daily waiting for my package to arrive.
????
We just got fresh farm eggs from 2 friend on Sunday. Some are speckled, some, blue, some green, all have huge yolks.

ReplyDeleteYum, yum, YUM Kary!! Cannot wait for my book to arrive so I can begin baking...these look so goood! Daffs are beautiful, golden jolts of Spring too. No snow here...warm & wet, Alice gets very muddy on our walks (brown crusty tummy fur!) but so much easier to get around! Love to you & sweet Teddy from Alice & me xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove me some oatmeal cookies and Daffy's. You seem to be having alot of fun at your house!
ReplyDeleteWould have loved those cookies during our storm yesterday!
ReplyDeleteLove the butter tip! I will be doing this. ;)
ReplyDeleteDear Kary & Teddy Sweet Face,
ReplyDeleteAs the old saying goes, one day at a time. I do believe I am better. Everyone has been wonderful!
I love the daffodils! I'm still sipping, and enjoying the "Comfort & Joy" tea, and treasuring my teacup!
Sending love, sandi
Fabulous looking cookies! I adore your kitty's name. How wonderful that you consider her well being in such decisions. What a lucky baby to be in your care.
ReplyDeleteYum... looks/sounds delicious. I'm in love with brown eggs too! :) ♥
ReplyDeleteI so much would like to bake when I look into your blog :)
ReplyDeleteI want springflowers too - thanks for sharing :)
Thank you for your compliment today. You are so sweet, Kary.
ReplyDeleteThere you go teasing my tastebuds again!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust keep pretending that it is spring!!!
Happy Days
I'm really in the humour for some cookies and coffee now - your cookies look lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm keeping my eyes peeled for the first snowdrops here!
Those cookies look scrumptious! I love walnuts and raisens in oatmeal cookies.
ReplyDeleteThe cookies look yummy. I've used the grated butter trick before. Not sure where I first heard of doing that...it was a million years ago!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful daffodils! Reminds me of my long ago visit to Grasmere in the Lake District of England where Wordsworth lived and wrote his poem, "Daffodils".
When I first saw the UUU of the cake dish, I thought it was icing; guess my new glasses can only help so much, eh? -smile-
ReplyDeleteThank you for saving the kitten's life; feral cats have a life span of less than two years. Ya done good!
