whew...i have to tell you i went into a bit of a post-holiday slump. january blues i guess. after all the fun and festivities of christmas...january rang in with a dose of the get-me-downs. but, as of today, i am out of the slump...and the reason why...this new cookbook. SARABETH'S BAKERY. FROM MY HANDS TO YOURS by Sarabeth Levine..... i just got it today...what a winner it is... it is a beauty. the photographs by quentin bacon are stunning. the book covers morning pastries, muffins and more, beautiful breads, everyday cakes, party cakes and company, pies and tarts, plain and fancy cookies, spoon desserts, frozen desserts, spreadable fruits and frosting, fillings and sweet sauces. i am really excited about the jam too. that is on my list of things to do for the new year. it's going to be busy in the farmhouse kitchen this year. now, where's my apron?

I will have to get her cookbook! I love Sarabeth's Bakery, Kary. I've been to both her Chelsea Market bakery and the one near Central Park. I should blog about them one day. Her baked goods are really good and I especially love her jams...I'm always stocking up on them when I shop at her stores.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you make!
I love new cookbooks.. My wonderful daughter got me a new one called Diabetic Cooking. It even has delicious looking desserts too. I miss desserts.

ReplyDeleteHi Kary! I agree, post holiday blues . . . in my case I've had a double dose because of the classes I was taking. Thankfully the were officially over on Dec. 20th! ... As you know "From Beyond My Kitchen Window" and I are friends, the best of friends actually! I gave this to her for Christmas and my hubby gave it to me! We can't wait to cook up a storm this year! So now the three of us will be able to compare notes!!! Don't you just love this cookbook?
ReplyDeleteGood to see you're "out of the slump", as you put it! Sounds like you are really going to have your hands full between cooking, baking and posting on here :-)

Hello darling Kary! Hope that you, John & Teddy are fine and happy. I understand your blues over New Year - I find it hard to let the old year and happy times go. But this year I feel really happy & optimistic (so far) so I send you some of that from Alice & me (she's currently out on a sunny, frosty 3 miles run with Paul so she's in heaven!)I've just ordered this book on Amazon - thanks so much for the recommendation xo I love the snow angel picture too and that hot chocolate cup is making my tummy rumble now...:o)
ReplyDeleteLove to you sweetie - I've just posted a few of my favourite things over on Mozart's Girl btw. Happy Sunday xoxo Rachel
I love that a cookbook can get you inspired and happy. This is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHi Karyn: I've been to SaraBeth's restaurants in NYC, and you can be assured everything I have tried is truly a wonderful breakfast experience. Her popovers (the ones she has folded in her apron on the book cover) are delicious beyond words. Also, her jams are sold locally (in the northeast) - another yummy creation of hers.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with her recipes and please report back. I'd love to hear your opinion.
It sounds like a great cookbook and another one I will have to check out. Love your header with the covered bridge. They are definitely a rarity to see these days.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to reading all the recipes that you make from this book. Diane
ReplyDeleteJanuary always puts me into a bit of a slump. Just the way it is. This cookbook looks devine and I wish you could share samples via e-mail.

ReplyDeleteKary,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the kind and supportive words. Last week I was almost unable to function. Currently I am better. I know you understand the struggle and the time it takes to breathe normal again....sobs choke out of me without warning.
