80 Degrees ? Are You Kidding Me ?

That's WHISKEY SOUR sunning himself in the sun this morning..we have all the doors and windows wide open...because today our thermometer in the garden read 80 degrees. what is going on? i have been watching the Weather Channel and the whole world is buried in snow. i don't know if 80 degrees is a good thing or a bad thing. it just seems strange....
there is little Teddy outside this morning by the kitchen door in the herb garden...or what will be the herb garden come summer. right now the borage that i planted a couple of years ago has re-seeded and is coming up all over...the bumble bees love it.

this is my Spring Showers ....it is already blooming ...you can see the rose hips on my Berries and Cream rose in the background....

this was the view this morning...january 16th, 2011 from my clothesline in the backyard...notice the palm trees...so california...and that mountain is called Mission Mountain. at Christmas there is a lighted tree on top and at Easter a lighted cross.

my yellow johnny-jump-ups are blooming...leftover from last year...and still going....

my yellow Banks rose was blooming this morning too... i don't know why it is so warm here... i guess i will just go with it...feels like summer so this afternoon i am making a blueberry crisp....

  2. Unbelieveable! Back east in NJ where I live, it is 23 degrees, sunny and cold. We're making a hot chicken meal in the dutch oven tonight.

I love your flowers; they make me smile!

  3. I can't believe that a few hours south of here it is warm and sunny. Enjoy the day and the blueberry crisp.

  4. OMG Kary, its so cold here that even Bella doesn't want to stay out and she's a Lab. Love the picture of Whiskey Sour enjoying the sun. Bella lays in front of the fireplace. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

  7. Oh I am sooooooo jealous I wish we were just a bit warmer here than we are!! Diane

  8. We are still stuck in the fog this morning. Yesterday when it finally burned off we had lovely sunshine...but not 80 degrees! More like high 50's to low 60's. I would love a day of 80 to bask in the sun like your puppies.

  9. We have a wetter and warmer winter this year. In the mountains, snow is falling, and then melting. Ouch!

  10. Oh I'd love a bit of that heat!!

What a beautiful view from your garden.

  11. OMG, what I wouldn't do for 80 degrees! It's the perfect temperature! What I wouldn't do to trade places with Whiskey Sour about now!!! Duke's a little jealous of Teddy, it's so cold that when Duke's trying to do his business he's dancing on his paws! LOL!!! I think I'll have to get him some little UGGS or L.L. Bean boots!!! What do you think? Mission Mt. must be lovely to look at on those holidays! Have a wonderful evening!

  13. Blueberry crisp - sounds delicious! Yes it seems the whole worlds weather has turned up side down. We are in Queensland and as you may have heard we are not expereiencing the long hot summers that we are used to. We have been to the beach twice in six weeks of school holidays!

  14. 60's here in Fl., today! I was out in the garage for a bit, and left my door open--both my babies {himalayan kitties} got curious, and came outside. They are not allowed out, but enjoyed a minute of exploring, both in the garage, and out in the driveway. Since we had them shaved, a few weeks ago, they really need to stay in! Unless we get back up to 80 here, too! Enjoy your beautiful day! Mission Mtn is an amazing view for you to have! Blueberry Crisp sounds good!

  15. 80 degrees sounds so good right now! We have hovered at 30 all day with the threat of a little snow shower.

  16. Well now California Dreamin' Sister,

We made it to 70 degrees today here in Florida. I love all the flower pictures!

Sweet Teddy Boy is so precious, he blesses my grieving heart! So glad to see him!

Whiskey Sour is soaking up the sun beams and napping. Smart kitty baby.

    Great post Kary!

  17. Is Whiskey Sour really sunning himself or is that heat prostration?

  18. Cannot believe your weather. My, it's so different looking in California, on such a winter's day.

  19. So gorgeous!!! I'm looking outside and it's a sea of gray, dead grass and a sad little excuse for a garden...but I will continue to find happiness and hope that Spring will arrive sooner this year! Teddy is adorable :) Xoxoxo

  24. Thanks so much for your comment on my blog, and for reading! Seems I'm going to echo everyone else who commented here: where I live is more like the farmhouse in Vermont (well, minus the actual farmhouse), but I'm wishing I lived in California about now! ;)

  27. 80 degrees? Crazy talk.

Love those rosehips! Johnny-Jump-Ups! I have to say Kary, I love winter more than most, and snow makes me happier than rainbows....but I do miss my garden. I can't wait to see what spring brings this year.
Keep your garden pictures coming and I'll post more of the white stuff.

    Cheers!

  28. No Sarabeth recipe, I did a post on our Winter Weekend in Maine. I think you, Susan and I should coordinate a Sarabeth Valentine's recipe post, and all post at the same time! Wouldn't that be funny!!! LOL!!! Have a great Monday!

  29. You hear my wistful sigh? Sunshine and bumblebees... and I would so join your cat sunbathing!! But this morning, the lawns and cars have a frosty glitter to them and the mild days we've had a little while ago were just a glimpse of what, eventually, is to come.

  30. I'm happy someone is having beautiful weather. It hit 38 degrees today and I was over the moon. Another big cold front moving in tonight. Will it ever end! Thanks for sharing your sunshine.

  31. While an 80 degree day in January would be very hard to handle, seems like Mama Nature has tried to take the edge off your discombobulation by blessing you with such colorful treasures. Enjoy the moment; hope that blueberry crisp was as delicious as it sounded!

  32. Really like the photos of your flowers - instant feel-good stuff!

  35. Good morning! I'm in Southern Oregon (3 hours south of Portland) and just found you via Acorn Hollow. I'll definitely be back to catch up on past posts when I have a little more time. Enjoyed what I had time to read! Wish it were 80 degrees here and sunny today...but it IS Oregon so it raining!

  36. I'm so JEALOUS!!!!
We had several inches of snow this morning and now it's freezing rain! Louie is scheduled for a hair-cut tomorrow and I guess we will stick with a "puppy cut" rather than his usual fancy-do...
I'm worried he'd freeze during potty breaks outside!

  37. I'm with the person who said they were sick with jealously... can't help it. The palm trees make me mad too. I get to look at bare branches and any little patch of ground that is not covered in snow (rare) is brown. Bleh. Those blueberries looked great, though.

  38. Though I love the variety of seasons, you are making me crave Spring! What gorgeous pictures.

It is neither good nor bad. It's just nature being herself. ;-)

  39. Wishing for 80 degree weather and daffodil's blooming. My daffodil's are just peaking out of the ground, which is extremely exciting.
