A Walk Before The Storm...January 20, 2010

Well, it finally happened. We got RAIN. And is it ever packing a wollop. Heavy winds, rain falling sideways, thunder, lightening, sirens going off all around. My daisy picking days are over for now.

I am taking part in Dawn's ....from the delightful blog COUNTRY GIRL ...."Collections from Nature." It is such a wonderful idea...when out walking...just look at what nature has to offer on each day. I take Buddy twice a day around the block..and it is amazing to find so many treasures from nature everyday. And each day is different. This was my walk yesterday before the storm slammed in.I really like the rose petals..even though they were tattered and damaged by raindrops. The pods are from trees out on the street...and little Dande just can't get enough of that dried piece of fern...

If you would like to take part...please join us. Just add the "tiny treasure collector" button to your sidebar and post your treasures. Makes taking a walk a double pleasure....

  1. I love doing that! I try to sometimes incorporate such "hunts" with my kids when we're out and about. It's raining here, too. Gray, cold and rainy. I could use some warm temps and sunshine! Take care.

  2. There isn't much to find other than snow around here, right now. I do love to pick up interesting leaves, stones, pinecones and whatnot when the weather is nice. I used to keep a big glass jar just to put such finds in when my kids and I would take walks together.

  4. Kary, I'm a Catholic and every palm Sunday of each year is our Blanche's favourite day. She loves fresh or dried palm and will play with it for ages, but then she chews up the ends and spits them out again (not nice at all).

I've heard there's a tornado warning in your region. Stay safe, my friend.

  7. The brown pod thing is super.... Do you know what it is? I know they say they can duplicate nature with paint, but I think not! It's waaay better! (Sorry about the rain. It'll make everything green though!)

  8. Hi, Kary! You've had more rain in SLO than we have in Paso, but it's been a great downpour so far. I'm glad you came by my blog. We both like Kingsolver. Her "High Tide in Tucson" was the one that caught me up. You said one of hers saved your life--I'll have to look for it. Louise Erdrich's "Master Butchers Singing Club" saved my life once, so I know exactly what you mean. I've not done the Cambria writing group, but do go to SLO for the poet's nights out at Linnea's. Have you ever been? We have a poetry reading in Atascadero tomorrow (Thursday) night. It's a nice group of poets. Want to meet there?
    Cheers and stay dry!
