Getting Things Out

We went and got 2 Christmas trees last night. But before that we went to Pepe's Restaurant and had a real enchilada...and this one was good. So we've got that out of our system.
I got a few of my decorations out. The old book is from my collection of vintage Christmas books...this one..."The Birds Christmas Carol" was a gift from my dear friend, Julie.

The little tin Christmas box was also a gift from Julie...I just love it..I leave it out all year....just sitting in my bookshelves...but at Christmas I set it out for all to see...

The candy canes are old..I scored them one year from an antique shop up in Cambria called "Birds of a Feather". They were used to decorate a Christmas tree lot...love them too.....

And the little wreaths in my kitchen window are part of my vintage Christmas collection.

I'll start decorating the house and trees this weekend....

Rain is in the forecast.....

  1. Oh, I do love that very first photo. How Christmassy and cozy! Please do show us more once you are done. Christmas is my favorite holiday. I must get to finishing my decorating as well! :)

  2. I like your decorations. In the first photo, we had the same Santa Claus's. If it's made of wax, there are selling for quite a bit on Ebay, so I hear. My Mother still has hers, and they are alot of sentimental value. No selling here!
    Have a great weekend!

  3. The old tin is lovely. Wherever you got it, you need to go back and more!

  4. Yay for yummy enchiladas! Gosh, I love seeing all your vintage holiday decor! So neat.

My mom has a ragged old Santa she used to sleep with on Christmas as a little girl. My brother and I took turns sleeping with him during the Christmas holidays growing up. Once we were too old for that nonsense, he just sat with us in the Christmas card photos!

He's still around... probably sitting in her living room right now!

  5. I especially love the tin box! It looks so special. Do you keep anything in it? Love letters?
I have to admit, I'm a little jealous of you folks living in America...you can already get your christmas trees after Thanksgiving. Here, you have to until about two weeks before Christmas. And people look at me like I'm crazy when I say I want to start decorating at the beginning of December. Should I do it anyways?
Your home looks wonderful, I only wish I could stop by for a hot chocolate.

  6. I adore those bottle brush wreaths!!! Antique Christmas decorations are some of my very favorite things. Now that I am home again I'll have to post about my vintage skiers that grace our foyer table this time of year.

Pictures of your Cheddar please!!! This Cheddar wants to see !!!!! :^D

  7. I love vintage Christmas decorations! I haven't started decorating for Christmas yet. I usually hang wreaths on all of the windows, but I want to do something different this year. I just haven't decided what that's going to be!

  8. Great pictures. I need all the inspiration I need.
    Have a good weekend!

  9. I plan to do the same thing myself. If it doesn't snow overnight, we're heading out to the mountain in the morning to choose and cut a tree. That box is too precious... I love old tin anything!
Thanks for stopping by my corner of the world. :)

  10. How very lovely. I just did some decorating today in fact, well, I suppose it's yesterday now! the few red wrapped gifts look so pretty against the sparkling gold skirt underneath the tree.

Enjoy and do take photo for us to, if you would?

  11. I love all your vintage Christmas decorations. It reminds me of growing up. Now you need some snow to go with those candy canes!!!

  12. Everything looks lovely :) I am utterly enchanted by Christmas and I cannot wait to start decorating and to buy our tree next week when we return from Vienna
