Cannelloni al Forno

Over Christmas here we thought it would be nice to make some cannelloni. We did the one out of Mario Batali... Molto Italiano Cookbook. We made the pasta, rolled it out, made the filing with the veal and pork, made a red tomato sauce and a white besciamella sauce, cut the pasta into squares, filled them, rolled them and layered on the two sauces. I took us five hours from start to finish. And John helped me with most of it, helping out with all the dishes and cleaning up. If I did it alone I would probably still be in the kitchen.

But we had them for dinner that night and it was worth all the effort...they were good.

  1. I had not heard about any cooking from you for a while and I was worried about you. I'm glad to see that everything is just fine. Hope you had a Merry Christmas.

  2. Sometimes it's the process which brings us joy, isn't it? What a nice group effort.
Thinking of you, here in rainy Frankfurt...on our way to the Bavarian countryside tomorrow where we will celebrate the new year in a rented cottage.
Wishing you fun festivities or a peaceful gathering...whichever it is, have a great time.
    Love you,
    Dawn

Well Kary, by al lmeans join in the Creative Tuesday this time around. You don't ahve to draw. Although phtography is not allowed otehr than an emblishment, you can sew somethign, kint something, crochet, or even using typography and write up words perhaps that describe cheerios, perhaps all in a cheerio shape or something? i don't know. Anyway, ideas for you. The main thing is just to use one's other side of the brain we all to often neglect adn to join in a community project.

Here's wishing you the most delightful new year. i'm so glad we've met in blog land.
